Under the direction of the Design Director, design and develop specific product segments within a designated category for the Walls Brands. Develop directional and relevant product line from concept to reality. Utilize technical and creative design skills, knowledge of products, fabrics, finishes, and construction to create innovative and inspirational products. Sustain the development, evolution, and communication of the brand look that supports and improves value and identity. Assist Category Leader across other category segments as needed.
In the absence of the Design Director, the Associate Designer maintains the continuity of the design and development process to ensure timely completion.
Assist with the creation and presentation of multiple, original designs per season from the vision to the idea to the development and execution of final product
Anticipate and identify trends and translate them into meaningful product and merchandising concepts.
Assist in developing color palettes and fabric programs.
NGC responsibilities including timely execution, follow up and accuracy
Working with the Design Team, and Merchandising Team responsible for the design and presentation of a seasonal concept, trend, and color direction
Continually investigate the consumer and the marketplace
Participate in fit sessions
Travel and conduct market research
Adhere to seasonal calendars to meet all deliverables
Responsible for organization of samples in the design area, showroom, and proto library.
This role may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week, especially when working at peak periods and/or on rush/special projects.
One to two years designing at an assistant level.
Bachelor's Degree in Design (apparel), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to effectively interact with multiple associates in several departments in a clear organized effective and professional manner.
Must be able to handle multiple seasons at one time within deadlines and maintain consistent high quality from season to season.
May require occasional travel for domestic shopping and market research.
