VF Corporation Accountant (Kipling) in Jersey City, New Jersey

Job Description

The Kipling Finance team is looking for an Accountant to join our team in our Jersey City, NJ office. This role will perform various accounting functions relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger for Kipling Retail, LLC. In addition to daily responsibilities, this role is involved with the financial statement close and reporting process. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, and analysis as required. Prepare accurate and timely account reconciliations. Prepare and assesses general ledger entries to ensure accuracy of financial information.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Perform all functions related to daily store sales posting and store sales audits.

  • Perform all cash audit functions including:

  • Reconcile all store and corporate bank accounts.

  • Prepare and post journal entries to record all bank activity and eComm‘s 3rd party settlement.

  • Research reconciliation differences and correspond to Supervisors and LP as necessary.

  • Review monthly bank fees for reasonableness.

  • Prepare schedules and post journal entry for stores’ operating account deposits and weekly fund transfers.

  • Update the outstanding check list on the accounting software system from the weekly bank statement.

  • Liaison with external State Auditors related to sales and use tax audits; assist with gathering required information.

  • Create, prepare and review journal entries that are accurate and compliant with company policies and applicable accounting regulations

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis, forecasts and management reports detailing financial activity, designed to ensure general ledger accuracy.

  • Maintain accounting and fiscal control documentation.

  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations. Identify and research variances. Communicate with associates in various departments and divisions to obtain information and resolve issues.

  • Perform system maintenance as required.

  • Cross-train and assist in Credit Department as necessary.


  • BS degree in Accounting

  • 1-2 years of experience

  • Attention to detail

  • Organizational skills and ability to identify priorities in changing environment

  • Work well with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to interact with a variety of people at all organizational levels

  • Strong excel skills and ability to learn various systems as needed

  • May require extended work hours to meet monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements
