DC Engineer: Become a Member of the VF Family

The DC Engineer is an integral team member supporting our Vans distribution center in Santa Fe Spring. In addition to supporting the distribution center in their day to day operations, there are many exciting and significant changes coming in our distribution network. As VF continues to grow, the DC Engineer will be a part of supporting those growth objectives. Working closely with our business partners in all channels of the business (eCommerce, Retail & Wholesale), we are working on strategies that will allow our distribution network to support the growth plans for the future. The DC Engineer will be a part of all of these exciting changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continually re-evaluate DC methods and procedures to minimize cost and maximize efficiency including proposal, justification, acquisition and implementation of needed equipment and/or process changes.

  • Perform associated time studies to support labor management metrics, budgeting and comprehensive project return on investment calculations.

  • Participate in capacity planning for all distribution centers in area of support.

  • Create and maintain detailed distribution center layouts in AutoCAD.

  • Support business growth including conceptual planning, detailed engineering design, evaluation and procurement of Material Handling Equipment, budget tracking and project management.

  • Performs other functions as needed such as system enhancement input, training on new processes and procedures and solving technical problems.

  • Perform other engineering duties as assigned by Director and/or Manager

Years of Related Professional Experience: 4

  • Educational/Position Requirements:

  • BS Degree required

  • Minimum: 4 years experience as an Industrial Engineer

  • Preferred: 7 years experience as an Engineer in multiple locations

  • Able to function independently with minimal direction and guidance

  • Good planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to conceptualize changes, develop implementation plans, and manage the execution project

  • Thoroughly knowledgeable in distribution methods, systems, equipment, and processes

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management within the DC and Corporate Office

  • Skills/Systems: Auto Cad, WMS

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Some travel required

  • Ability to occasionally lift 40+ pounds
