Position Summary: Support Timberland's Strategy & Insights team to facilitate the development of both Timberland’s long-term growth strategy and more immediate operational decisions by providing fact-based analysis, market & consumer insights, and practical recommendations to key decision makers across the organization. The team works collaboratively with business partners across the organization.
Market intelligence & insights: Perform in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses to better understand Timberland’s competitors, consumers, and market opportunities. Use market information to identify opportunities, make recommendations to senior management and assist with senior-level decision-making. Synthesize key learning insights across existing and ongoing consumer & shopper insights projects to create highly engaging snapshots to be shared across the organization. Liaise with VF Analytics, Market Intelligence, and DTC Analytics team to create resource database of metrics available. Identify opportunities to leverage analytics data to augment insights projects. % of Time Involved: 30% ; Relative Importance: 5- Very High
Long-term growth strategy: Actively support the development and activation of key strategies for Timberland that will drive long-term profitable growth for the brand, through Timberland’s long-range and annual strategic planning process. Collaborate with regional and functional leaders to communicate strategies across the organization. % of Time Involved: 25% ; Relative Importance: 5- Very High
Stakeholder engagement: Communicate strategy and business direction across Timberland and to the broader VF organization. Coordinate with business leaders to prepare content for Quarterly Reviews, Board of Director meetings, and other senior level communications. % of Time Involved: 25% ; Relative Importance: 5- Very High
Strategic, business planning, & insights projects: Participate in complex cross-functional projects that identify, evaluate and analyze critical strategic priorities and/or operating improvement and efficiency opportunities. Work across levels and functions. Assist in development, management, and execution of research plans. Business performance analysis: Execute projects and/or discrete analyses, as requested by senior management. Analyze global company financial and operational performance (e.g., drivers of historical performance, trends over time). % of Time Involved: 10% ; Relative Importance: 4- High
Years of Related Professional Experience: 3+
Educational/Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree with 3+ years' experience, preferably from a top-tier management consultancy and/or from the strategy group of a Fortune 500 retailer or consumer products company.
High-degree of facility with research sources, financial and statistical techniques, and presentation approaches
Demonstrated hypothesis-driven problem-solving orientation with exceptional ability to create structured analyses from disparate sources of information
Experience in industry and competitive analysis, modeling, and financial analysis (both qualitative and quantitative)
Ability to work in the details without losing sight of the big picture
Ability to be objective in analysis
Ability to structure project activities, resource allocation, timing, and interdependencies
Ability to drive results across simultaneous projects under tight time pressures
Comfort working in and bringing structure to ambiguous environments
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
Ability to take direction and maximize opportunities within assigned role on larger teams
Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
